News for the New Year

SUNDAY, JANUARY 15TH, MEETING

Please join us for our regular monthly meeting at 5:30pm as Wimberley Area Republicans welcome Deputy Anthony Hipolito, HCSO, to share his outstanding program about Fentanyl Awareness.

The above sign can be seen on I-35 in the Kyle area. It was posted by Janel Rodriguez, mother of one of the students who lost his life to a fentanyl overdose. Her son Noah was a sophomore at Johnson High School.

“I want these kids to see their friend up there. I want them to see that this is real.”

LET’S GET IT DONE IN 2023

Your Wimberley Area Republican Board is excited about the prospects of the new year. We welcomed our newest board member Cathy Locke, who will serve as our First Vice President, at our January Board meeting. We also appointed Tennyson Moreno as our Texas State Liason.

We had success in so many areas this past year:

  • Record numbers were in attendance at our February meeting where we met many Republican Primary candidates and heard why they were seeking various offices throughout the state and nation.
  • Candidate David Puryear enlightened us on the duties of the District Attorney
  • Tent Sitters manned the polling places during the Primary, Primary Run-Off, and November elections
  • In the March 1st Primary Election, 1485 Republicans voted in Wimberley
  • We recognized our Volunteers in April with an appreciation dinner
  • Our Easter bake sale was a big success!
  • On May 15th we held a Runoff Candidate Forum featuring six candidates
  • We participated in Poll Watcher and VDR training at the Welcome Center.
  • We sponsored a National Night Out event at Oldies’ in support of our lcal law enforcement and first responders.
  • We made phone calls on the new Hays County Call System and did local Block Walking.
  • We had an awesome float in the Chamber July 4th “Best Little Parade in Texas” parade. Many of our candidates walked the entire route beside us.
  • We had new Wimberley Area Republican t-shirts available at our meetings
  • Jaeson Jones was our guest speaker in July and we had a full house to hear him discuss the Texas border situation.
  • We collected donations for the Border Project and the Crisis Breadbasket throughout the year
  • Chris Byrd addressed us in August as our new SE 25 SREC representative
  • School Board Candidates highlighted our September meeting
  • County Judge Candidate Mark Jones addressed us in October
  • Deputy David Graham closed out our speakers in November with an outstanding program on Active Shooter Response
  • We sponsored candidate sign-pickup at the First Baptist Church and our Vineyards office, as well as a Meet & Greet Coffee at Vintage Oaks. We also held two successful Meet & Greet events at Creek House here in Wimberley.
  • We closed out the year on December 26th by sponsoring the Hot Cocoa and Smores event at Emily Ann Theater.

EVEN THOUGH WE HAD SUCCESS IN MANY AREAS, WE ARE JUST BEGINNING TO MAKE AN IMPACT HERE IN WIMBERLEY. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE WIMBERLEY AWARE OF THE CURRENT POLITICAL SITUATION IN OUR CITY, STATE AND NATION. PLEASE JOIN US FOR AN EXCITING 2023 IN PREPARATION OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN 2024.

WE MUST START NOW!

WE HAVE A W.A.R. BOARD VACANCY

At our January Board Meeting, Marti Eveleigh submitted her resignation as Membership Chairman, effective immediately. We all wish Marti well and appreciate her hard work. She was one of the founders of this club in 2019 and has served us well the past four years. Her term expires December 31, 2023, so there will be an appointment to fill her unexpired term. This position will be up for election this year. New officers will be nominated in September and voted on in October as stated in our Bylaws.

If you or someone you know is interested in serving on the W.A.R. board as Membership Chairman filling Marti’s unexpired term, please contact President Ann at 817-991-4002 as soon as possible. This will be an appointed position to fill the unexpired term.

We are always looking for willing workers and this is a perfect opportunity to serve the Wimberley Area Republicans.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW HOSPITALITY CHAIRMAN

Cathy Locke has served us well the past few years as our Hospitality Chairman. She has asked that someone take her place in view of her new position as 1st VP. The position requirements are as follows:

As chairman you may select your committee members and coordinate all duties as assigned.

Plan, order and purchase all snacks, meals, drinks, for all events based on expected attendance.

Buy all supplies such as coffee, napkins, cups, plates, etc.
